As one of the primary drivers of the ethical recruitment agenda in the Philippines, Staffhouse was invited to participate in the 2nd Global Forum for Responsible Recruitment and Employment in Singapore last June 11-12. The event was organized by the Institute for Human Rights and Business (IHRB) and the Consumers Goods Forum (CGF).
The forum had a series of panel presentations and discussions with featured speakers from business, government, intergovernmental organizations, and civil society. It showcased the work of initiatives such as the Leadership Group for Responsible Recruitment developed by IHRB, along with the efforts of many other organizations.
Staffhouse was represented by Marc Capistrano who was asked to speak on both days of the 2-day event. Mr. Capistrano presented the business case of the “Employer Pays” model and spoke about the factors that could encourage mainstream manpower companies to shift to more ethical practices (i.e. capacity building, growing demand, government regulations, and increased awareness).
Founded in 2009, IHRB is the leading international think tank on business and human rights. IHRB’s mission is to shape policy, advance practice, and strengthen accountability in order to make respect for human rights part of everyday business.
