Southeast Asia represent! Last November, the International Labour Organization (ILO) led delegates from Vietnam to pay a visit to Staffhouse International Resources as part of its study to exchange information on Philippine labor migration, ethical recruitment, and migrant worker protection.
The delegation was led by Mr. Dan Ngoc Xuan, director general of Vietnam’s Department of Social Affairs. Through the engaging visit, Staffhouse briefed the Vietnamese delegation on the company’s ethical recruitment practices and even exhibited how Staffhouse operates under its ethical hiring model.
What is ILO?
The ILO is an agency of the United Nations that aims to promote social justice and internationally recognizes human and labour rights. ILO is the first and oldest specialized agency of the UN, being founded in 1919. It was created under a treaty that ended World War 1 and reflected the belief that universal and lasting peace can be accomplished only if it is based on social justice.
ILO serves its constituents in several ways, including:

The Philippines became an ILO member in June 1948 and established an office in Manila In 1970. The Philippines was also the first Asian country to participate in an ILO pilot program on decent work in 2002.
ILO Philippines’ Decent Work Agenda serves as an integrated strategic roadmap for national stakeholders and international partners in supporting labour and employment goals and priorities. The program was crafted following extensive consultations with major stakeholders in the recruitment industry and aims to continue supporting Filipino people during the most difficult of times amid the brunt of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the program, workers, employers, and government get a chance to collaborate in advancing economic and working conditions.
ILO’s global Decent Work Agenda aims to:

● To create greater opportunities for women and men to secure decent employment
● To enhance the coverage and effectiveness of social protection for all
