As an agency for Canada in the Philippines, Staffhouse International Resources is committed to closing Canada’s skills gap, particularly in New Brunswick’s healthcare sector. Teaming up with the Government of New Brunswick, we aim to tackle the province’s pressing shortage of healthcare workers.
This partnership signals a significant move towards strengthening healthcare services in the region, offering skilled professionals the chance to make a direct impact in communities in need. Together, Staffhouse and the Government of New Brunswick are simplifying the path to a brighter future for healthcare in the province.
Healthcare in New Brunswick paints a challenging picture, as highlighted by both patient anecdotes and healthcare worker testimonies. Reports depict overcrowded emergency rooms, long wait times, and strained professionals grappling with the demands of an overwhelmed system.
Despite these long-standing issues, proactive measures, and decisive actions to address the crisis have been lacking. The shortage of healthcare professionals exacerbates these challenges, further impeding the delivery of quality care to New Brunswickers.
Fortunately, the collaborative recruitment campaign between Staffhouse and the Government of New Brunswick emerges as a crucial initiative. By partnering to address healthcare worker shortages, this effort aims to inject much-needed expertise and manpower into the province’s healthcare infrastructure.
The recruitment of skilled professionals not only fills healthcare jobs in New Brunswick but also lays the groundwork for a sustainable healthcare system capable of meeting the evolving needs of New Brunswick’s population.

Our selection process for healthcare professionals is meticulous and thorough, ensuring that only the most qualified candidates are recruited. Here’s an overview of our process:
• Candidate Screening
We screen candidates to ensure they meet the basic requirements for the position. This includes verifying their credentials, experience, and qualifications. We also conduct initial interviews to assess candidates’ communication skills, professionalism, and suitability for the role.
Once candidates pass the initial screening, they undergo a comprehensive assessment. This may involve skills assessments, such as medical knowledge tests or practical demonstrations of clinical skills. For example, nurses may be tested on their patient care abilities, while medical technologists may undergo proficiency tests in laboratory procedures.
We verify the qualifications and credentials of candidates to ensure they meet the standards required for employment. This includes confirming educational degrees, professional licenses, certifications, and any specialized training relevant to the position.
In addition to qualifications, we evaluate candidates’ professional experience in their respective fields. We assess candidates’ work history, previous roles, and accomplishments to gauge their level of expertise and suitability for the position.
Qualified candidates undergo a series of interviews with our team of seasoned recruiters and healthcare professionals. These interviews delve deeper into candidates’ skills, experience, and motivations. We sometimes ask behavioral interview questions to assess candidates’ problem-solving abilities, teamwork skills, and adaptability.
We conduct thorough reference checks to gather insights into candidates’ past performance and professionalism. We contact previous employers, supervisors, or colleagues to validate candidates’ qualifications and assess their suitability for the position.
Upon the selection of candidates, we provide ongoing support and training to ensure they are well-prepared for their roles. This may include orientation programs, continuing education opportunities, and mentorship from experienced professionals.
This collaboration isn’t the first time Staffhouse worked with the Government of New Brunswick. We held a healthcare recruitment fair in Manila and Cebu on Feb. 18-22, 2023, to bring more highly skilled nurses from the Philippines to the Canadian province.
We also partnered with the Government of Manitoba, Canada, to address healthcare workforce shortages in the province. Through a five-day recruitment drive held in Metro Manila, Cebu, and Iloilo, we facilitated the connection between internationally educated nurses (IENs) and other healthcare providers in the Philippines with employment opportunities in Canada.
Under the agreement between Staffhouse and the Manitoba government, successful applicants received comprehensive support, including assistance with immigration processes, paid licensing and education, travel expenses to Manitoba, accommodation allowances, workplace orientation, mentorship, and one-to-one support.
We designed these support measures to ease the transition for recruits and facilitate their integration into the Canadian healthcare system.
As a result, we addressed Manitoba’s healthcare workforce needs by providing qualified professionals, particularly IENs, to fill critical roles in the province’s healthcare sector. Additionally, we provided opportunities for skilled healthcare workers in the Philippines to pursue rewarding careers in Canada.
